Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about how Astronext works — the astrology, the AI, the money, and your data. If your question isn't here, ask it in the app's chat or reach us from your account page.

Getting started

What is Astronext AI?

Astronext AI is a Vedic astrology platform built on two layers: a precise calculation engine that computes your birth chart from real astronomical data, and an AI writer that translates those calculations into clear, practical guidance. The math is classical Jyotish; the language is modern. You get daily, weekly and monthly horoscopes, a full free Kundli, Kundli matching, the Bengali Panjika, in-depth premium reports, and an astrology chat that answers questions about your own chart.

How do I create an account?

With just your phone number — we send a one-time password (OTP), you enter it, done. No email or password to remember. After signing in once, you add your birth details (date, time, place) and your chart is ready in seconds.

Why do you need my exact birth time and place?

Because real astrology is computed, not guessed. Your ascendant changes roughly every two hours, and the Moon moves through a nakshatra in about a day — so the same date with a different time or city produces a genuinely different chart. We use your details once to compute the chart and store the result; you never need to re-enter them.

What if I don't know my exact birth time?

Enter your best estimate — a parent's memory, a birth certificate, even 'early morning' converted to a time. Most of your chart (planet signs, nakshatras, Dasha sequence) is stable across a few hours. The ascendant and house placements are the time-sensitive parts, so treat those with lighter confidence if your time is approximate. Moon-sign readings — including our 12-sign horoscopes — work well even with a rough time.

What can I use for free?

A lot, permanently: your complete Kundli (planets, houses, nakshatras, Vimshottari Dasha timeline, yogas and doshas), daily/weekly/monthly horoscopes, the 12-sign horoscope, Kundli Matching with the full Ashtakoot breakdown, the Daily Panjika, and the Free Kundli report as a downloadable PDF. Every new account also includes one free question to the astrology chat, chosen from our question list. Kundli Matching and the Panjika don't even need an account.

Our astrology — how it's computed

Which system of astrology does Astronext use?

Classical Vedic astrology (Jyotish), computed with the Lahiri ayanamsa and Whole-Sign houses — the mainstream combination used across India, and the standard in Bengal. We state this openly because it matters: two apps giving different answers are usually using different settings, not different skill. Ours are fixed, documented, and never silently changed.

How are the calculations actually done?

From professional-grade, high-precision astronomical data — the same standard of precision that serious astrologers and astronomy software rely on. Planet positions, your ascendant, nakshatras, the 120-year Vimshottari Dasha cycle, yogas, doshas, tithis and muhurtas are all computed deterministically from it. Given the same birth details, you will get the same chart every single time, on any device.

Does the AI calculate my chart?

No — and this is the most important thing to understand about Astronext. Your chart is pure astronomy and classical rules; no AI is involved in computing it. The AI's only job is language: it turns your already-computed chart into plain words, and it cannot add a placement, a date, or a prediction that isn't in your computed chart.

Why do you focus on Moon signs rather than Sun signs?

Vedic astrology reads the chart from the Moon — your 'rashi' — because the Moon shifts signs every two-and-a-quarter days, giving far finer timing than the Sun's month-long stays. Your Moon sign also anchors your nakshatra and your Dasha sequence. Newspaper-style Sun-sign columns are a Western convention; our 12-sign horoscopes are Moon-sign readings, which is why they may differ from what you're used to reading.

What is the Vimshottari Dasha everyone keeps mentioning?

It's Vedic astrology's master timeline — a 120-year cycle of planetary periods (Mahadashas), each subdivided into Antardashas, that describes which themes are foregrounded in different chapters of your life. It's computed exactly from your Moon's nakshatra at birth. Your free Kundli shows your full sequence, the current period, and what's coming next.

My chart shows a dosha (Mangal, Sade Sati, Kalsarpa). Should I be worried?

No. A dosha is a classical pattern flag, not a curse — and we deliberately present it that way. Manglik status, for example, is a discussion point about intensity in partnership, moderated by many other chart factors. Sade Sati is a Saturn transit phase that everyone passes through multiple times in a life. Anyone who uses these words to frighten you is selling something. We show the flag, explain the pattern, and never attach doom to it.

The AI — what it does and doesn't do

How does the AI part actually work?

In two clearly separated roles. Your chart is computed first — pure astronomy and classical rules, no AI involved. The AI then writes the interpretation from that computed chart alone, and every reading is held to our editorial standards before you see it. The AI cannot see the sky, cast a chart, or make up a transit; it can only put words to numbers we computed first.

Is an AI reading as good as a human astrologer?

It's different, honestly. A great human astrologer brings intuition and conversation; a poor one brings inconsistency and, too often, fear-based upselling. Astronext gives you the strengths of the computed side with total consistency: the same chart always produces the same calculations, every interpretive claim traces back to a real placement, and no one will ever scare you into buying a gemstone. Many users use both — Astronext for daily grounding and instant answers, a trusted human for life ceremonies.

My weekly/monthly horoscope mentions specific dates. Where do they come from?

Every date is a real, computed sky event inside your reading's period — a planet changing signs, turning retrograde or direct, or a new or full moon. Dates in a reading come only from those computed events; they are never invented. If a reading says 'the new moon on the 14th', there is a new moon on the 14th.

Will Astronext ever predict something terrible for me?

No — by design, not just by policy. Every piece of AI-written text is held to strict content standards before it reaches you: fear language — doom, curses, 'guaranteed' outcomes — is never published, and a reading that falls short of the standard is never shown. Astrology here describes patterns and windows; your choices remain yours. We built this in because fear is the astrology industry's worst habit.

Can the AI make mistakes?

The calculations can't (they're deterministic astronomy), but AI-written prose can occasionally phrase something oddly or emphasise a minor factor. That's why every report shows its underlying data — your placements, Dasha and scores are printed alongside the interpretation so you can always check the words against the math. If a reading looks off, regenerating a horoscope or asking the chat to elaborate usually resolves it.

Horoscopes, matching & Panjika

What's the difference between the daily, weekly and monthly horoscopes?

All three follow the same method at different zoom levels. Daily uses today's exact transits against your chart. Weekly (Monday to Sunday) and monthly (calendar month) anchor the period's transits and add the period's real sky events — ingresses, retrogrades, lunations — as Key Dates. Each also comes in a 12-sign edition on the same page for family and friends. Switch between them with the filter at the top of the Horoscope page.

What's the difference between my personalised horoscope and the 12-sign readings?

The personalised reading is computed against YOUR chart — your Moon sign's houses, your running Dasha period. The 12-sign grid is the classical rashi reading: the period's transits mapped from each Moon sign, the same for everyone with that sign. Personalised is sharper; the grid is great for checking on people who haven't signed up.

How does Kundli Matching work?

It's the full classical Ashtakoot method — eight compatibility factors (Varna, Vashya, Tara, Yoni, Graha Maitri, Gana, Bhakoot, Nadi) computed from both people's Moon positions, scored out of 36, with any doshas surfaced honestly. It's free, needs no account, and shows the complete per-koota breakdown rather than just a number. You can save matches on your device and share a result card straight to Instagram.

We scored below 18 in Kundli matching. Is our relationship doomed?

Absolutely not — and be wary of anyone who says otherwise. The Ashtakoot score is one classical lens on Moon-sign compatibility. Traditions weigh it alongside the full charts, planetary maturity, and — above all — the actual relationship. Our Premium Compatibility Report exists precisely for this: it reads both complete charts and treats every low koota as a conversation to have, not a verdict to fear.

What is the Daily Panjika?

The Bengali almanac, computed fresh for your location every day: tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana, the auspicious Abhijit muhurta and Brahma Muhurat (calculated from your city's true night length, not a fixed clock time), and the periods to avoid — Rahu Kaal and Gulika Kaal — plus festival days. It's free, public, and available in Bengali and English.

Reports

What reports can I get?

The Free Kundli report (your complete chart, always free), and premium deep-dives: Kundli Premium (the full life reading), Career & Finance, Relationship & Marriage, Karmic & Past-Life patterns, Annual Forecast, Muhurat (auspicious timing), Child & Parenthood, and the two-chart Compatibility report generated from Kundli Matching. Every report is a professionally designed PDF you keep forever.

How is a premium report different from the free one?

The free report presents your computed chart — placements, Dasha, doshas — with a concise reading. A premium report is a bespoke multi-page analysis written across your whole chart for its specific topic: it weighs your Dasha timeline, relevant houses and yogas together, and gives practical, dated guidance. Same honest data underneath; far deeper interpretation on top.

How long does a report take to generate?

Usually under a minute. You can leave the page — generation continues in the background, the status page updates itself, and the finished report waits in your history. If a report ever fails to generate, you'll see it marked clearly rather than left spinning forever, and requesting it again is free.

My report seems stuck on 'generating'. What should I do?

Give it two or three minutes first — busy periods can slow generation slightly. If it's still stuck, refresh the page; a genuinely interrupted report won't hang forever — it will show as failed and can be re-requested at no extra cost. If a paid report fails repeatedly, contact us and we'll make it right.

Can I re-download a report later? Do reports expire?

Your reports never expire. Everything you've generated lives in Reports → History, and requesting the same report with the same details again returns your existing copy instantly — you're never charged twice for identical work.

Can I get my reports in Bengali?

Yes — every report, the horoscopes, Kundli Matching and the Panjika all support Bengali output. Choose the language when generating; sign and nakshatra names appear bilingually (e.g. বৃষ (Taurus)) so nothing is lost between traditions.

What's in the Premium Compatibility Report that the free match doesn't have?

The free match scores Moon-sign compatibility. The premium report computes both people's complete charts and reads them together — individual temperaments, Dasha phases and how they interact, every koota interpreted in context (including the scary-sounding ones, defused properly), and concrete guidance for the relationship. It's the only Astronext report built from two charts at once, bought as a one-time ₹299 purchase from the Kundli Matching page (report credits don't apply to it).

Pricing, payments & refunds

What does Astronext cost?

Pay only for what you use — there is no subscription. Chat with your personal astrologer through question packs: 5 questions for ₹99, 15 for ₹249, or 40 for ₹499 (and your first question is free). Premium reports use report credits: one report for ₹249, two for ₹399, three for ₹499 — a credit unlocks any premium report, anytime. The two-person Compatibility report is a one-time ₹299. Credits never expire, everything listed under 'What can I use for free?' stays free forever, and we will never upsell you a remedy.

Which payment methods do you accept?

Payments run through Razorpay, India's leading payment gateway — UPI first (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm and any UPI app), plus debit/credit cards and net banking. Your payment details go directly to Razorpay's PCI-DSS-compliant systems; Astronext never sees or stores your card or UPI credentials.

What is your refund policy?

Fair and simple. If a report or chat answer fails to generate, the credit you spent comes straight back to your balance — automatically. If you paid and we failed — a report that could not be generated after retries, or a duplicate charge — you get your money back, full stop. Because reports and answers are personalised digital goods generated on demand, successfully delivered ones aren't refundable for change of mind. If something about a delivered report is genuinely wrong (wrong details used, corrupted file), contact us and we'll regenerate or refund it.

Do my credits expire?

Never. Question credits and report credits stay on your account until you use them — no subscription clock, no lock-in, no expiry windows. And every report you generate is yours forever, re-downloadable anytime from your history.

Privacy & your data

What do you do with my birth details?

One thing: compute your chart. Your details are stored securely against your account so your chart and reports work, and they are never sold, never shared with other users, and never used for advertising. Astrology data is intimate — we treat it that way.

Who can see my chart, reports and chats?

Only you. Every chart, report, chat and match you generate is private to your account, and report downloads are authenticated — a report's link doesn't work for anyone but its owner. There is no public feed, no social discovery, nothing visible to other users.

Is my data shared with the AI provider?

To write your reading, the structured chart data for that reading is processed by our AI provider under their API data-use terms — this is the minimum required for the interpretation to exist. We don't send your phone number, and the AI provider has no access to your account. The calculations themselves never leave our systems.

How do I delete my account and data?

Contact us from your registered number and we'll remove your account, birth details, charts, reports and chats. Payment records are retained only as long as Indian financial regulations require. Self-serve deletion from the account page is on our roadmap.

What we deliberately don't do

Do you sell gemstones, remedies or pujas?

No — and we never will. The fear-then-remedy funnel is the worst part of the astrology industry: scare you with a dosha, sell you the cure. Astronext shows you your chart honestly, explains patterns without fear, and leaves your choices with you. If a reading ever mentions traditional practices, it's context, never a purchase.

Can I book a call with a human astrologer through Astronext?

Not currently — Astronext is deliberately a computed-astrology product. Everything we tell you traces back to your chart's actual data rather than one person's opinion on a call. If you also consult a human astrologer, your Astronext Kundli PDF is an excellent, precise document to bring along.
